PRISM Quartet, Inc.

Intriguing programs of great beauty and breadth have distinguished the PRISM Quartet as one of America’s foremost chamber ensembles. “A bold ensemble that set the standard for contemporary-classical saxophone quartets” (The New York Times), PRISM has been presented by Carnegie Hall, appeared as soloists with the Cleveland Orchestra, and conducted residencies at the Curtis Institute. Two-time winners of the CMA/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming, PRISM has commissioned nearly 300 works, including from MacArthur Fellows and Pulitzer Prize winners. PRISM has collaborated with So, Partch, Ethel, BMOP, The Crossing, Jason Moran, Tyshawn Sorey, and Miguel Zenón, and recorded for ECM, Naxos, Koch, Innova, Albany, and XAS, their own label.

PRISM is honored to receive a CMA Residency Partnership Grant to present 28 outreach programs in SE Michigan in 2015-16. Community partners include Progression, Inc., John R. King Performing Arts Academy, Cass Technical High School, Grand River Academy, McBride Middle School, and Ellington Conservatory of Music and Arts at Beckham Academy.

PRISM performs the world premiere of "Cha" by 2015 Pulitzer Prize-winner Julia Wolfe, commissioned with support from the Chamber Music America Classical Commissioning Program. "Cha" is presented on PRISM's Wall to Wall World Premieres concerts in Philadelphia (May 22) and New York (May 23).
