Composer/violinist Jason Kao Hwang's new CD "Burning Bridge" was commissioned by Chamber Music America's New Jazz Works, and features both Chinese and Western instruments. In 2012 The NYC Jazz Record awarded "Burning Bridge" with an "Honorable Mention for Best CD of the Year," and the Downbeat Critics’ Poll voted him “Rising Star for Violin." In 2011, he released "Symphony of Souls," performed by his improvising string orchestra Spontaneous River, and "Crossroads Unseen," the third CD of his quartet EDGE. Mr. Hwang’s opera, "The Floating Box, A Story in Chinatown" was named one of the “Top Ten Opera Recordings of 2005” by Opera News.
