Description

A week-long festival in New England, the Creative Musicians Retreat (June 15-23) is offered for composers, improvisers, performers, electronic musicians, choral musicians, and music teachers who want to spend a week immersed in music. The engaging curriculum is designed for a range of participants: undergraduate and graduate students, as well as professional and amateur musicians. The powerful synergy between composers, performers, and improvisers, as well as theorists, choral singers, and teachers is what makes a musical retreat at Walden so unique.

In 2019, our artists-in-residence will be Mivos Quartet; percussionist Matthew Gold; pianist David Friend; choral conductor Tom Colohan; and composer George Lewis. They will be available for lessons and coachings, and to workshop and perform. Everyone participates in three recorded Composers Forums with our Composer-in-Residence.

Surrounded by the natural beauty of southern New Hampshire and away from day-to-day distractions, musicians from all over the world come to contribute to an artistic and intellectual community. This is where people gather to invigorate their musical training, participate in a vibrant and talented community, and engage in creative music making through composition, improvisation, musicianship, choral singing, electronic music, and much more.
