Julie Leven received the Boston Neighborhood Fellows Award in April 2014. She is the first classical musician ever to receive this award for "quietly making the community a better place with creativity, vision, and initiative."

The Steve Griggs Ensemble will create Listen to Seattle, a program of narration and music inspired by the life and words of Chief Seattle, with support from a 4Culture Historic Site Specific Grant. The program will premiere at the Duwamish Long House in 2015 followed by free performances at historically significant sites.
Mendelssohn’s beautiful art song On Wings of Song, based on the text by Heinrich Heine, became hugely popular and has been transcribed for numerous instruments. NSM now offers a lovely version for alto flute and piano.
