Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington, IN: B.M. Composition, 1986, M.M., 1996. Works performed at Weill Hall (New York City), the Escuela Nacional de Musica (Mexico), Oberlin, the University of Waterloo (Ontario), An die Musik Live!, and the New York Society for Ethical Culture. Appeared with Rahman Assadollahi and Cavit Tebrizli. Grants from Meet the Composer and the Indiana University Honors Division. Has performed in Baku, Brussels, London, New York, the Voice of America, and Azerbaijani National Television. Premiered Andrew Nishikawa's piano concerto at the Boston Conservatory. Expert in Azerbaijani music; featured in Azerbaijan International magazine and AzerNews.



Jon Liechty appeared on the Azerbaijani section of the Voice of America, singing and playing at the Novruz (beginning of spring) celebration in Philadelphia.


Currently working on a set of ten short pieces for euphonium and piano, some of which will premiere in Indiana in June 2014. 

Recent work: Moving Seven Ways, for viola and claves, and Scenes from a Fantasy Novel, ten short pieces for piano solo.

Two sonatas for tuba and piano are available for premiere.
