ISLE of KLEZBOS approaches tradition with irreverence and respect. The soulful, fun-loving powerhouse all-women’s klezmer sextet has toured from Vienna to Vancouver. Repertoire from rambunctious to ethereal: neo-traditional folk dance, mystical melodies, Yiddish swing and tango, genre-defying originals. Formed by drummer/leader Eve Sicular, ISLE of KLEZBOS features alumnae of Juilliard, Eastman and Manhattan Schools of Music as well as Harvard and Japan, and has been honored with multiple awards by New York State Council on the Arts, Outmusic, and Sparkplug Foundation. TV: CBS Sunday Morning, L Word, PBS and CNN. Special projects: "J. Edgar Klezmer: Songs from My Grandmother's FBI Files"; Scissor Sisters studio sessions; Skidmore residency

Double headers & exciting outdoor concerts in June: Two shows next week! Isle of Klezbos debuts at The Jewish Museum for Museum Mile Festival on Tuesday 6/11; then we celebrate our fifteenth annual KlezBiGay Pride show, with Tony-nominated MC Lisa Kron at El Sol Brillante Garden (rain location JCC Manhattan), Wednesday 6/12.

On Thursday 6/26 Isle of Klezbos plays two boroughs: daytime for the Brooklyn Public Library's wonderful Central Branch "Lunchapalooza" outdoor series at Grand Army Plaza; and evening at an avant garde music salon on Manhattan's Lower East Side -- Spectrum is a post-modern listening venue in a former synagogue loft.
