ULTRA WORLD X-TET combines jazz, world, experimental and contemporary concert styles in a pioneering fusion of East and West. Instrumentation includes saxophone, bamboo flute, guzheng (Chinese zither), yangqin (Chinese hammered dulcimer) bass, and percussion. The group has performed at many top venues in the SF Bay Area including: Yoshi's SF, de Young Museum, SF Conservatory of Music, Herbst Theater, Berkeley World Music Festival, and events for SF Symphony. Awarded 2 Zellerbach grants in the last 2 years, Ultra World X-tet has received excellent reviews-their "Magical Adventures of the Monkey King" was chosen one of the best concerts of 2012 by Examiner. com. Releases include: "Moon and Legend"(CD) and "Night Market” (DVD Video).
