CutTime expands its scope with a string ensemble of 4-6 plus optional woodwind solos and percussion featuring Kresge-winning originals by its founder Rick Robinson. The focus is on surprising audiences and folk new to classical music with familiar music and personal insights from their collective experiences as working instrumentalists. Like their older sibling CutTime Players, Simfonica includes repertoire from popular symphonic, piano, chamber, pops, jazz and spirituals. The mixed octet Players features many holiday and special programs, while Simfonica has killer Valentine's Day program. Robinson's music features romantic adventure and funky urban grooves. They often perform these in clubs and schools and sometimes with breakdancers!
