Wolfgang, Saint-Saens, Liszt and Mendelssohn
Thursday, February 07, 2013
Los Angeles-based film, concert, and jazz composer Gernot Wolfgang's Rolling Hills and Jagged Ridges opens this program, featuring Camerata Pacifica's Catherine Leonard and Adam Neiman. Neiman performs Liszt's dramatic Mephisto Waltz No. 1, and joins Leonard for Saint-Saens' virtuosic Violin Sonata No. 1. According to Robert Schumann, Mendelssohn was "the Mozart of the nineteenth century;" his Piano Trio, Op. 49, is one of his most popular works.
