Gage Hall Coffeehouse Presents Susan Conant and Friends
Susan Conant, flutist, composer in Duo with Hazel Ketchum, guitar and vocals
and with Global Succotash with Jonathan Kammer, sax;
Gregory Guay, guitar & Muni Natarajan, tabla
plus Lin Raymond, piano
An evening with flutist and composer, Susan Conant, always brings old friends, new tunes and a few surprises. Fun, lighthearted, rhythmic, and mellow, just like great coffee, the music will transport you somewhere between São Paulo, Leipzig and Inverness. Take a look at the line-up to know that something special is bound to happen.
The first half will feature the Conant Ketchum Duo sharing their creative mix of original and traditional tunes and airs including a new set to showcase Conant’s hand crafted Celtic flute. Then Global Succotash, Conant's most recent project, will extract inspiration from traditional music found around the globe. With Conant on flutes and whistles, Jonathan Kammer on sax, Gregory Guay on classical guitar and Muni Natarajan on Indian tabla, the group will play Brazilian choro, Bulgarian peasant music and Conant’s original fusion of traditional/jazz and classical. And finally, sometime during the evening pianist, Lin Raymond, will make an appearance to help introduce the recent release of Conant’s classical chamber music disc: Lowcountry Sojourn.
