PROJECT Trio—beat-boxing flutist Greg Pattillo, cellist Eric Stephenson, and bassist Peter Seymour—has taken chamber music to a whole new level, pushing the boundaries of classical music with a high-octane mix of jazz, hip-hop, and rock.  A CD release concert and party will be held at Joe’s Pub, 425 Lafayette Street in New York City on Wednesday, October 17 at 7:30pm.  Tickets are $14 and can be purchased online at, by phone at 212-967-7555, or in person at The Public Theater at 425 Lafayette Street from 1-6 PM.

Since their formation in 2005, PROJECT Trio has become one of the most popular instrumental ensembles of its generation, playing over 100 performances worldwide each year, as well as garnering 73 million views and 75,000 subscribers on YouTube and playing to fans of all ages in venues around the world, from clubs to Carnegie Hall.

PROJECT Trio’s second CD release of 2012, When Will Then Be Nowincludes 11 rhythmically charged originals and covers. The originals include Classique, Raga Raja, TV Theme Show,6th Row Middle, andThe Stacks.  The album is balanced by some of the world’s great covers including, 3 Bach Sinfonias, a jam on Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, the classic Charlie Parker/Miles Davis tune Donna Lee, and a PROJECT Trio rendition of Rossini’s William Tell Overture.

This spring PROJECT Trio released their Random Roads Collection, which immediatelyrose to #2 on Billboard's Canadian chart, #15 on the Billboard US classical music chart and in a rare feat, simultaneously debuted at #17 on the Billboard jazz chart.  Like all other PROJECT Trio releases, the disc rose to the top of the iTunes charts.   The Trio has three earlier recordings: Winter in June, PROJECT Trio Brooklyn, and their DVD, PROJECT Trio: Live in Concert. The group has appeared on Nickelodeon and MTV, and their music can be heard on Nike and Smart Car commercials.  Writing or arranging all of their own music, their works include interpretations of Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, J.S. Bach, Dave Brubeck, Charles Mingus, Guns and Roses, and—as befits an omnivorous ensemble with a flutist The New York Times calls “the best in the world at what he does”—Jethro Tull.

Their touring schedule for 2012-13 includes concerts with the Detroit Symphony, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Charlotte Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony, New Jersey Symphony, the Britt Festival, and the opening concerts of the Chicago Sinfonietta.  Passionate about music education the Trio will perform and lead master classes in schools, universities, festivals and other venues throughout the US and around the world, including a tour of the former Soviet Union for the US State Department.

Acclaim for the Trio and its members, runs the gamut from Downbeat Magazine, which praises PROJECT Trio as “packed with musicianship, joy, and surprise” to The New York Times, calling beatboxing flutist Greg Pattillo “the best in the world at what he does.” The Wall Street Journal hails the group’s “wide appeal, subversive humor, and first-rate playing.”
