Description

WindSync launches a new festival for Houston focused on creative placemaking through music --the Onstage Offstage Chamber Music Festival. The festival includes partnerships with local organizations and presenters including the Houston Youth Symphony, Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, Center for Performing Arts Medicine, Archway Gallery, and Young Audiences of Houston to present a variety of concerts and activities that spotlight the breadth of WindSync’s work in the community through innovative and educational programming. Houston-based conductorless ensemble KINETIC will be featured as guest artist.

Onstage Offstage Chamber Music Festival is dedicated to making extraordinary chamber music accessible to underserved audiences in concert halls and in non-traditional spaces. The programming includes a week-long residency in three elementary schools in Houston’s Near Northside neighborhood, concerts at Houston Methodist West Hospital and the Medical Center’s Crain Garden, a concert at Zilkha Hall, and several interactive pop up concerts in Houston’s outdoor spaces.

Main stage concert: The Town Musicians of Houston

WindSync joins forces with KINETIC Ensemble to present a concert celebrating the people and the sounds of the city. Rhythmic verve and folkish melodies weave through works by Miguel del Aguila, Jean Francaix, Alexandra T. Bryant, and Steve Reich. The evening concludes with Mark Buller's setting of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale "The Town Musicians of Bremen", in a special side-by-side performance with the Houston Youth Symphony Coda Music Program.
