Description

Our Britten celebration begins with the jubilant
sounds of CCM’s brass players and guest artist
Christopher Martin, principal trumpet of the
Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Britten’s Fanfare for
St. Edmundsbury for three trumpets leads the way
to the virtuoso flair of Sachse’s Concertino for
E-flat Cornet, and Böhme’s Sextet for Brass in E-flat
minor—all in rich, full brass sound. Britten’s cheery
Three Divertimenti for Strings is a striking contrast to
the well-loved, and powerful Brahms Piano Quintet in
F minor. Acclaimed cellist Stephen Balderston joins
CCM in these two works.
