This program of French and Belgian compositions explores the connections among three composers to one violinist. One of the most famous violinists in history, Belgian violinist Eugène Ysaÿe was called the King of the Violin. He performed in the premiere of the Debussy Quartet and Chausson Concerto, and Franck composed his Sonata for him as a wedding present to him. Festival artists will pay homage to Ysaÿe in this program.
Claude Debussy – String Quartet in G minor, op. 10
Cesar Franck – Violin Sonata in A
Ernest Chausson – Concerto for Violin, Piano and String Quartet, op. 21
